Yes, you should actually read all this. There’s actually some useful and very important information here. In fact, you should read all you can on all the links about your trip before signing up—and make sure we’ve answered any question you have.

Anyway, here goes:

Your Responsibilities

In order to ensure your safety and that of others on the trip, you are responsible for the following:

• providing us with accurate and complete personal information when requested
• reviewing our packing list and properly equipping yourself for the trip
• carefully reviewing all trip information provided, so that you understand the physical and mental demands of the trip as well as possible risks
• respecting the customs and obeying the laws of the places we visit
• refraining from antisocial conduct during the trip and any conduct detrimental to the well-being of the group
• respecting the rights and privacy of other participants on the trip

Dismissal from a Trip

The trip leader has the full discretion to ask you to leave a trip if the trip leader feels that your further participation may be detrimental to you, the trip, or to other participants on the trip.

If the Trip is Cancelled

Not that we expect this to happen, but, if MyHikingVacations has to cancel a trip, we will fully refund any payments you have made. Please note that our responsibility is limited solely to the payments you have made. MyHikingVacations is not responsible for the refund of airline tickets or any other purchases you make in association with the trip.

Emergencies/Insurance

Your hiking guide will attempt to provide appropriate first aid or other assistance in case of accident or illness. Please note, however, that evacuation services (including helicopters) can be very expensive. MyHikingVacations does not provide coverage of this nature for its participants. We therefore suggest you obtain medical and evacuation insurance, which is often offered as part of a travel insurance package.

Your travel insurance should cover cancellation fees and other non-recoverable expenses you might incur if you have to cancel your trip, as well as any other medical expenses you might incur.

Photographs

Photographs taken by MyHikingVacations during your trip may be used for marketing purposes. Please notify the trip leader if you do not wish your image to be used in this manner.

Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk

I understand that my participation in this MyHikingVacations trip is voluntary. I also understand that, by the very nature of this type of vacation, I may be exposed to a variety of hazards and risks, foreseen or unforeseen. These inherent risks include, but are not limited to, serious personal injury, property damage, and death. I further understand that on this trip there may not be rescue or medical facilities or expertise necessary to deal with the risks to which I may be exposed.

I also understand that MyHikingVacations reserves the right to make changes in the scheduled itinerary for the comfort and safety of its trip participants, or when deemed appropriate according to the best judgment of the tour guide. MyHikingVacations is not responsible for any injury, damage or loss caused by the negligence or willful act of any third parties not under the ownership or control of MyHikingVacations, including any accommodations, restaurants, trains, cable cars, gondolas, busses or activities conducted by other private entities that might be part of the tour.

I further understand it is my responsibility to inform MyHikingVacations of any mental or physical limitations which might prevent me or others from safely and satisfactorily completing this tour, and that my failure to do so could result in my dismissal, without refund, from the tour. I understand it is my responsibility to be in sufficiently good health to complete the tour.

I also confirm the following:

• I have read any rules and conditions applicable to the trip made available to me.
• I acknowledge my participation is at the discretion of the trip leader.
• If I decide to leave the trip before its completion, I assume all risks inherent in my decision to leave and waive all liability against MyHikingVacations arising from that decision.
• To the fullest extent allowed by law, I agree to waive, discharge claims and release from liability MyHikingVacations from any and all liability arising from any injuries, death and damages, even if caused by negligence of MyHikingVacations and its personnel. I understand and intend that this assumption of risk and liability release is binding upon my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, and includes any minors accompanying me on the trip.
• I have read this document in its entirety and I freely and voluntarily assume all risks associated with the trip. I also understand and agree to the policies regarding trip cancellation.
